TXT.ca is Canada’s source for all information relating to text messaging and Short Code administration. Text messaging, or SMS (Short Message Service) allows mobile wireless users to quickly send, receive and view short text messages using a wireless phone's keypad and screen. Txt.ca is managed and operated by the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association.
Text Messaging is a fast, easy and discrete way to share information using wireless devices. Text messages are short messages up to 136 characters – typically two or three
sentences – that are composed using the mobile phone’s keypad and addressed to the area code and seven-digit number of the recipient’s mobile phone. Delivery is
almost instant, and the recipient’s phone rings or vibrates to announce that a new message has been received. Messages can be sent between mobile phones customers of most wireless service providers in Canada and the United States. For a list of Canadian text messaging carriers please click here.
